WARNING…. PLEASE NOTE BRANCHES COMMUNITY CHURCH RENO
DOES NOT ASK FOR OR ENCOURAGE ONLINE DONATIONS…
Giving in the context of Christian organizations is a controversial subject. Many in
church leadership have abused their congregations by demanding tithes for their own
fiscal gain. Many have taught that tithing (giving a tenth of one’s income) is a spiritual
discipline and that those who tithe will receive a special financial blessing. We at
Branches take a different point of view on this subject. First, there is no directive in the
New Testament that we should tithe. Even the Old Testament tithing principle was
concerned with the produce of the land and was to be paid with the produce of the land.
Second, our giving is to come from the generosity of our hearts and not out of
obedience to a principle of law. Giving is an act of worship that comes from a generous
heart influenced by the Holy Spirit.
