Most of us have grown up with the notion which is elucidated in the American founding
documents that people are endowed by their Creator with certain “inalienable rights”
and that the primary function of government is to protect those rights. It would seem that
we are in a period where the freedoms we have come to expect as our heritage and
birthright are being denied by the very government whose mandate is to protect them.
Many Christians throughout the world have observed this process and some have been
imprisoned and some have died at the hands of self-serving government. As St. Peter
warned us: “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes
upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to
the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the
revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.”- 1Peter 4:12-13. The Kingdom of
Man will always oppose the Kingdom of God. Jesus promised persecution but the
Kingdom of God will prevail. As Napoleon said: “The Church of God is an anvil that has
worn out many hammers”
