As we continue to follow our missionary friends, Paul, Silas, Timothy and then joining them Luke, as they progress into unknown territory, we see how they responded to the Holy Spirit closing doors to direct their path; their path into a more intense spiritual darkness. The Light of the World, Jesus, encountered this darkness through our friends, shattering its power. At Philippi we meet the first European person to experience conversion to the new life in Christ, a woman named Lydia. Then Paul in the Name of Jesus exorcised a demon from a slave girl that was making boat loads of money for her masters by fortune telling. With the demon gone so was the fortune telling. Tune in next week for the infuriated slave masters’ reaction to their cash cow being released from darkness and no longer able to turn a buck as a soothsayer.
